Owners call this territorial. Most of the time it is simpler than that: nobody has ever been in charge of that piece of ground except the dog.
A recall that only works when nothing is happening
On the Nashua River Rail Trail the bikes are fast and quiet and they come from behind. Your dog answers you in the yard and ignores you on the trail, and the honest read is that he never answered you at all - he agreed with you. Agreement is not obedience. When Four Sessions Is Not the Answer
Board and train is four to six weeks with the dog living full-time with Shawn. He trains in real environments every day - town sidewalks, stores, parking lots, busy public places - never a kennel run. Shawn picks the dog up at your door and brings him home himself, which also lets him see the household the dog is going back to. Then three reintegration sessions at your home, because a dog who works for Shawn in Rhode Island still has to work for you on your own driveway.
